Sereno (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the Sereno Planner application (the “Service”), available on web and mobile platforms.
Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By accessing or using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree with the terms of this policy, please do not access the Service.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Account Information
When you create an account, we collect:
- Email address — required for email/password registration and for sending service-related notifications.
- Name — collected if you register via Google Single Sign-On (SSO).
- Google account profile information — if you choose to authenticate using Google SSO, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Google, in accordance with your Google account permissions.
1.2 Task and Planning Data
The Service is designed to help you organize your tasks and schedule. We collect and store the following data you create within the Service:
- Tasks, subtasks, task titles, and task descriptions
- Lists (including the default Inbox and any custom lists you create)
- Tags, priorities, and due dates assigned to tasks
- Time tracking data (actual time and estimated time on tasks)
- Daily reflections and end-of-day summaries
- Burnout hour settings and related preferences
1.3 Calendar Data
If you choose to connect your Google Calendar:
- We access your Google Calendar events to display them within the Service's Calendar View.
- We do not modify, delete, or share your Google Calendar events outside of the Service.
- Calendar access is optional and can be revoked at any time through your Google account settings or within the Service.
1.4 Usage and Device Information
We automatically collect certain information when you use the Service, including:
- Device type, operating system, and browser type
- IP address and approximate geographic location
- Pages viewed and features used within the Service
- Session duration and interaction patterns
- Referring URLs and exit pages
1.5 Cookies and Similar Technologies
We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to maintain your session, remember your preferences, and improve the Service. You can control cookie settings through your browser, though disabling cookies may affect certain functionality.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- To provide and maintain the Service — including displaying your tasks, lists, schedules, and reflections.
- To authenticate your account — via email/password or Google SSO.
- To send notifications — including task-related reminders and service updates, based on your notification preferences.
- To sync calendar data — if you have enabled Google Calendar integration.
- To track burnout hours — to help you manage your daily workload, based on the time data you provide.
- To improve and develop the Service — by analyzing usage patterns and user interactions.
- To communicate with you — including responding to support requests, sending product updates, and delivering marketing communications (with your consent where required).
- To process payments — for premium subscriptions, handled through our payment processor Polar.sh (see Section 5).
3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information only in the following circumstances:
- Service Providers — We share data with trusted third-party providers who assist in operating the Service, including:
- Polar.sh — for payment processing of premium subscriptions on the web platform.
- RevenueCat — for managing in-app purchases and subscriptions on iOS and Android. RevenueCat facilitates subscription verification and status tracking but does not store full payment card details.
- Google — for authentication (Google SSO) and calendar synchronization (Google Calendar API).
- Hosting and infrastructure providers — for data storage and application hosting.
- Legal Requirements — We may disclose your information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request.
- Business Transfers — In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to the same privacy protections.
- With Your Consent — We may share your information for purposes not described in this policy with your explicit consent.
4. Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. Specifically:
- Account and task data — Retained until you delete your account or request deletion.
- Usage data — Retained for up to 24 months for analytics and Service improvement purposes.
- Payment records — Retained as required by applicable law and for legitimate business purposes.
When you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
5. Payment Processing
Premium subscriptions are processed through Polar.sh, a third-party payment processor. When you make a purchase:
- Polar.sh collects your payment information (e.g., credit card details) directly.
- We do not store your full payment card details on our servers.
- Polar.sh's own privacy policy governs the handling of your payment information. We encourage you to review Polar.sh's Privacy Policy.
6. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including:
- Encryption of data in transit (TLS/SSL) and at rest
- Secure authentication via Google SSO and hashed password storage
- Regular security assessments and monitoring
- Access controls limiting who can access user data
However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access — You can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction — You can request that we correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Deletion — You can request that we delete your personal data.
- Data Portability — You can request a copy of your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Opt-Out of Marketing — You can unsubscribe from marketing communications at any time.
- Revoke Calendar Access — You can disconnect your Google Calendar at any time through the Service settings or your Google account.
- Revoke Google SSO — You can revoke Sereno's access to your Google account through your Google account security settings.

8. Tracking and Analytics
8.1 No Cross-App Tracking
Sereno does not track your activity across third-party apps or websites for advertising or profiling purposes. We do not use data to serve targeted advertisements, and we do not share data with data brokers.
8.2 App Analytics
We may use anonymized analytics tools to understand how the Service is used (e.g., which features are most popular, crash reporting). This data is used solely to improve the Service and is not linked to your identity for tracking purposes.
8.3 App Tracking Transparency
On iOS, Sereno does not request permission to track you under Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework because we do not engage in tracking as defined by Apple's policy.
9. Children's Privacy
The Service is not intended for individuals under the age of 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child without parental consent, we will take steps to delete it promptly.
10. International Data Transfers
Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your country of residence. These countries may have data protection laws that differ from the laws of your jurisdiction. By using the Service, you consent to the transfer of your information to such countries, subject to appropriate safeguards as required by applicable law.
11. Third-Party Links
The Service may contain links to third-party websites or services (e.g., Google Calendar). We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of such third-party sites. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party services you access through the Service.
12. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the updated policy within the Service and updating the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
